Kansas City Band Northwinds Symphonic Band

June 15th, 2006

   Mr. Danny Watring, CO-Director of the Northwinds Symphonic Band, has just been named the CO-Director of the Grandview Consolidated District #4. Mr. Watring will serve with Gary Anders as Mr. Anders prepares for retirement. Beginning in the 2008 year, Mr. Watring will assume full responsibilities for the Grandview High School Band Program

 

January 15th, 2006
   Kurt Schoenrock, sophomore clarinet performance major at the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory of Music, has just been nominated to the National Dean's list putting him in the top half of 1% of national college students.

 

October 26th, 2005
  Two members of Northwinds, Emily Heisterkamp and Carrie Shuck, were selected to perform in the 2005 Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma National Intercollegiate Band. Emily and Carrie were amongst numerous college students that auditioned for the prestigious ensemble. The band performed for the start of the organizations National Convention in Lexington, Kentucky under the direction of Michael Haithcock. The group premiered The Seasons, a four movement Phillip Sparke composition. Emily was selected on clarinet and Carrie for baritone saxophone.

 

September 11th, 2005
   The Northwind Symphonic Band begins its second season with a wonderful sight-reading rehearsal with many new members that have joined us after having heard our previous concerts.

    Spring Concert in the Oak Park High School Auditorium. Our featured guest will be the renowned Fountain City Brass Band from Kansas City. Don't miss this exceptional free concert

 

April 13th, 2005
   Josh Bennett, bass clarinet player in Northwinds is graduating next month from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music with a degree in clarinet performance. He plans on attending Arizona University next fall to start on a Masters degree in Bass Clarinet performance. Good luck Josh!

   Emily Heisterkamp, clarinetist, will be graduating from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Instrumental Music on April 30th, 2005 In Maryville, Missouri. Congratulations Emily!
